Well… the videos below both of which are actually protest videos carry a strong set of visual message- both are sort of patriotic anthems in a way, one for migrants another from the heartland of America.
‘The Boss’ of rock – Bruce Springsteen’s – started it with this song- but Cheech’s version is one that played prominently in the immigration debate that flowed across the USA a few months back.. Circa 1984- both are off You tube and have credits on them- so if there’s any copywrite issues take it up with Youtube first!
Anyhow- here’s Bruce’s version…. which deals with the generation that fought the Vietnam war and its coming of age and those who lived to see decline and sunrise anew in America in the 1980′s.
And the Cheech version…. which deals with well other issues meant as spoof and bit of protest- so apt nowadays in some places.
