Daniel Smith’s family: statement on conviction

There is a family in U.S. who are looking at the entire case in subic and conviction from a different perspective than many here in Manila.
That of the family of Daniel Smith, His father faxed a statement to local media in Missouri about their view on the conviction.
As well as the ongoing appeal process.
[] ” … James Smith, a firefighter, said he spoke to his son Thursday and that he was in good spirits given the circumstances. Donna Smith, a transplant nurse, said the family was unable to attend the trial.
In a statement faxed to the newspaper, the family said they have stayed in close contact with the State Department and appreciate the work of embassy officials on their son’s behalf. “Our son has presented his side of the story in court, and we are anxiously waiting for word on his appeal efforts. To our son, we’d like to say we love you very much and you are constantly in our prayers.” Statement issued to media is St. Luis, Mo. …” []
