SUBIC RAPE CASE: Fr. Reuter presents ‘other side’ of the accused – INQ7
I must admit it sets another tone for the issue ; it is always good to hear both sides in an argument from an open mind.
I have to say Father Reuter, has an open mind, there is famous story about him that even though he was in nearly every prison camp during world war two and suffered through that things unthinkable to even have seen.
After the war he was one of the most vocal people that humane treatment be given in some cases the very Japanese soldiers who worked in the camps where he was held and suffered in.
He is a truly a servant of God; doing his job. I wish there were more like him. In the whole story he never tried to say anything either way; for or against the men. He amazes me and I must admit he is not in a position many others would want to be in. You can read it here.
the link is above; it is the only article I have seen from the other side of the story and is worth reading. I am sure if the case were reversed and four OFW's or Philippine peacekeepers were accused and a Filipino priest where ever they were would be doing the same and trying to save the men’s souls.
Because after all is said only the Judge and Court can declare them guilty or innocent.
And God only and the victim and these men and witnesses can truly know what happened. The charges; based on items so far discussed in media show a strong case for the victim so far though. And most public opinion seems to be on her side here in Manila.
Past history and opinion aside; it's good of the Inquirer to put things into perspective, they proved the masthead of their paper true today "fearless views fair news."
Did the AP wire, Reuters, DpA and AFP get the story too? .
