“Da Aragoncillo Code” good column
I saw this on the Mindaoano Daily Mirror does a pretty good job of looking at the story in review: from a perspective of a Mindanao view on the issue.
"…some opposition leaders say, plotting to oust President Arroyo cannot be equated to destabilizing the state, as to consider the act punishable under the crime of rebellion. Precisely because Arroyo is neither the Philippine government nor the state."
All in all, both sides Government and those in the opposition are now telling each other to keep quiet in the case. Many fear indicments may flow; but it does not seem to be the intention of those in the prosecution to pursue the case further in statements reported in court – the main purpose of the case seems to be to plug leaks.
Since this came to light I have noticed a marked reduction in tips of information from US government sources based in the US and here. The main thing here is- this is mostly a US based case. As the newpaper website puts out.
It is a US effort to clamp down on those who talk to other outside the walls – Arragoncillo was a "pretorian" in the Roman sence one who had access to the inner most workings of the sitautiion rooms and private briefings of the Blair House, White House, and FBI.
What the column misses is the extent of time from October 2000 to September 2005! So it began when he was still in the White House circle. But here and in the US most of the issue has been of on his time at the FBI. Perhaps what occured at the White House was less on an issue. Or not probed extensively.
