Philippine warning: Australia fears “More attacks…”

January 11, 2007 at 10:40 am Leave a comment

In the wake of a Bombing spree across several parts of Central Mindanao that has seen numerous past attacks over the last weeks.  The Australians say there may be more attacks and include specific possible targets that may affect the areas in Metro Manila, Cebu, the Sulu area and as well as possible other targets where foreigners gather such as resorts, malls, hotels, etc.

Considering yesterdays attacks – and – a earlier prior warning issued by Australia’s DFAT on information gathered from Australia’s sources in the region it is something to take notice off. But – Philippine security forces have foiled many prior attacks in the past. Even Mall security guards and most places that can afford some form of private security services – have beefed up locations with more inspections and checks. In many parts of the Philippine these unsung hero’s have prevented many such efforts to hit soft targets in the past. I expect there may be more attempts but success for the militants has been per government sources about 10 per cent of the plots they try.
