As at least three members of ASEAN have been battling problems with major health concerns. At the core are issues such as ‘bird flu’.

At the regional summit meeting Cebu, ASEAN, as group is discussing ways to deal with a more intergovernmental cooperation within ASEAN alongside efforts of the World Health organization and international health care companies and HMO providers.

A major concern are health issues like the Avian flu crisis that is gripping ASEAN countries Indonesia, Vietnam, and, as reports say Thailand-Burma-Cambodia are feared to be less prepared. Other regional countries like the Philippines and Malaysia who have better health care ability, Manila for example is major center of the WHO and its work in fighting the outbreaks have been within limited resources innovative as shown with the hurdling of the SARS crisis of 2003.

While most officials seem keen on cooperating – and – developing ways to combat the health problems and possible ways to fight off possible pandemic fears – some – countries are not expressing the will to support these even if they will benefits from protecting the nearly two point five billion citizens of ASEAN region by developing health care solutions here.
