Every year the American community of Manila gathers to celebrate Independance day and Fil-Am friendship day. Last year the events took place at the International School in Taguig. It was a fun picnic and as ussual there were marching bands, kids games, a party and fun for all. I featured it on FYITv.net and my youtube site:

The American Association of the Philippines (AAP) is holding its annual July 4th U.S. Independence Day Celebration on Sunday, July 1 from 2-8 p.m. at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza poolside gardens and Sunset Pavilion. This fun filled day features exciting activities for the whole family. Start the feast by bringing the whole family at Spiral on July 1, 2007 for the Philippine American Friendship Day brunch and discover the fusion of different ethnic and regional influences that define the American cuisine. Guests will receive perfume giveaways from Ralph Rocks, the new fragrance by Ralph Lauren and a chance to win the perfume through the pick a prize as well as gift packs from Coppertone.
The American Independence Day event is aimed at raising funds for the American Association of the Philippine’s social welfare services. Tickets cost P300 (general entrance) and P1200 tickets (includes the dinner buffet at 6:30-10:30 pm). Children below 12 years old come for free if parents are buying the P1,200 tickets. AAP does a lot of good work- humanitarian projects to help people in many cases when they have few other places where to turn to – the picnic and the George Washington ball – which this year I emceed are the main fundraising events for the NGO.
For those attending raffle priuzes await and a whole slew of events take place that the whole family can enjoy.

Food stalls, a mini-bazaar, and a kid’s Patriotic Art Competition, Best Adult & Child Patriotic Costume Award adds more fun. The whole event culminates in a grand fireworks display at 8pm. The 4th of July also coincides with the celebration of the Philippine-American Friendship Day….”
